Batt Insulation

Batt insulation also referred as blanket insulation is used in insulating floor, wall studs, ceiling joists, attic rafters, basements and crawl spaces. Its common use is between the framing of the home.

It is manufactured from fiberglass, mineral wool, and denim cotton. Its pre-cut form (rolls and panels) makes it flexible and best suitable for application in residential and commercial properties. It comes in different material and thickness for optimal energy efficiency. There are variety of R-values in batt ranging from 8 to 50.

Reflective & Non-Reflective Batt Insulation

Reflective insulation, also known as reflectix, is a type of insulation made up of layers of aluminium foil with various spacers between them. The multiple layers help reflect radiant heat and reduce conductive heat flow. Reflective insulation is commonly used for duct insulation, wall insulation, underfloor insulation, and more. It comes in rolls or sheets of various widths with an R-value around R-5 to R-10.

Non-reflective Insulations are made from materials like polystyrene, polyisocyanurate, or polyurethane. These boards provide high thermal resistance and are suitable for walls, roofs, and foundations.

Fibreglass Insulation

Fibreglass insulation is manufactured from glass or sand particles which are processed to make a fibrous thermal barrier. Many producers are using recycled glass material (up to 30%), which has greatly reduced the concern about the environmental issues of fibreglass production. It is a cost-effective way to insulate houses and commercial buildings because fibreglass comes in rolled batt or loose-fill varieties to fulfil the requirements of different projects.

Aside from its budget friendly design, fibreglass insulation also provides fire resistance, indoor sound reduction, and easy installation.Â

Mineral Wool Insulation

Mineral wool batts are made from inorganic fibers that are derived from a volcanic rock known as basalt. They are precut sheets/rolls of mineral wool insulation that are designed to fit in cavities within frames. Mineral wool is a high-temperature insulation with high-density and hydrophobic properties making it highly fire-resistant, a great acoustic insulator, and resistant to mildew, mold, and fungi growth.
Mineral wool batt insulation is typically used to insulate attics, ceilings, floors, and walls.
